The shade of these trees is a welcome respite from the heat of the sun when I visit the park with friends. We donʻt mind any uneven paving beneath these trees.

These hardwood trees are valuable shade at the park and beautiful. To take them out would be irresponsible.

Leave the trees alone!
Stop designing everything around what’s convenient for cars! Get a life.

I would rather have less parking spaces, than less trees. Maybe have the row by the trees turned into picnic table spaces? The trees are what makes the park a beautiful place to be.

The trees are the best thing about this park. We need a better solution. The number of parking spaces is quite sufficient.

Please consider at least a slower schedule of cutting them down. It’s almost summer. Shade is critical for community using the park. Kids, sports, parents, people waiting for bus, socialization… please reconsider.

Trees help with temperature moderation, but also are an important part of soil and moisture retention. I fear that removing so many trees at once could affect the microclimate of the park. It also could result in degradation and erosion of the park grounds with the greater exposure to the elements when storms come. This would result in greater maintenance costs, and work to counteract the cost saving measure of removing the trees.

Looks like he trees are healthy, and they are certainly appreciated and even beloved by the community. Sure, the buckling asphalt is a problem - what other solutions have been investigated? Let's find another way to expand the parking and remove trip hazards rather than destroying these majestic living beings that are part of the Honoka'a story. Please.
