The trees have always been part of that park and I can’t imagine them not there. I also want to see a plan and budget for the parking lot resurfacing because one hasn’t been presented and the park is well-used so we need a functioning parking lot.

Here in Puna they are literally digging up 200+ year old trees with no public input. I’ve seen a tree trunk 8 feet in diameter being halled away! Stop Developers now. Make lows for oversight now. Please.

I grew up under these trees. I graduated in the gym beneath their shade. Those trees are tied to so many memories for our community. I want my son and future generations to enjoy the same shade, beauty, and feeling of home that I did. Please save them.

The shade and beauty of the trees are so important to our park. Please don’t cut them all down, especially without researching other solutions and saving at least some. What is a park without trees!?

We should be planting new trees and preserving the older ones, not cutting them down.

As a mom of four, Honokaʻa Park is a huge part of our family life. My child gets picked up from the Kamehameha Schools bus there every day, and we’re constantly at the park for sports and community events. I fully support bringing in native trees, but it should be done with a real phased plan over time so families don’t lose all the shade and beauty at once. Please protect what we have while planning wisely for the future.
