It takes many many years for a tree to grow to the size it can provide shade and absorb carbons. It only takes some will power and good intent to make the parking lot area work for all. SAVE OUR TREES!

These trees are a asset to the park in Honokaa
They provide needed shade as we continue to see temperatures rise throughout our island.

Trees are valuable in so many ways. As a member of East Hawaii Outdoor Circle, I try to protect trees everywhere. Our county, state, and federal government should protect trees and provide care for them, not cut them down!

Big trees have a big job to do. Don’t stop them from it. They give shade and oxygen and reduce global warming. They are also beautiful.

Please preserve our mature trees. They provide a shade canopy and remind us of those who came before us.

Growing new landscapes would be more costly tans time consuming than preserving the valuable resources that these mature trees provide.

I would like to see a middle ground found between safety and saving the trees. These trees have been here for as long as I can remember and will be here long after we are gone. They hold history, memories, and are special to all of us in the community. We should be caring for them, not cutting them down cause it's the easy solution. Finding a middle ground is hard, but I think our community can come together to find a solution.

The trees are beautiful and important to the park. The parking lot can be restructured and replaced but the trees cannot. Those trees are deeply rooted symbols of growth, nurturing and Interconnected-ness. Scientific evidence proves trees communicate and share resources through an underground, symbiotic "wood-wide web" of mycorrhizal fungi, linking their roots to exchange carbon, nutrients, and water. This network facilitates the transfer of distress signals—warning neighbors of drought, disease, or insect attacks, allowing them to raise defenses.
Destroying one or more trees could devastate the entire network.
Some beliefs hold that these trees possess a "life force" that can emanate from them, and some people believe they can feel or connect with this energy. Due to these beliefs, Honoka’a Park’s large mature trees should be treated with reverence and protected from removal.
The park’s Mahogany trees are a biological life force providing shade, soil conservation, and supporting biodiversity.
Please do not put our park into disequilibrium with unsustainable tree removal.
