There should be more rowing at state schools, not less.

Rowing has been a huge contributor to my son's mental and physical well-being at the school. I believe it builds and reinforces the values of the school and would urge the Governors to re-consider their position.

Instead of ending the rowing programme be the leaders and encourage and build state school rowing

It would be really unfortunate if this has to be removed from the curriculum. Sincerely hope that the governors would reconsider.

Rowing is an all round good sport for fun, health and well being, without getting duffed up like rugby. Dropping it is a highly retrograde step.

Rowing offers students a great alternative to contact sports such as Rugby and Football allowing them to develop strength, stamina and skill within a team/crew and or as individuals. With a strong business case being proposed by the LOSBC support group I find it difficult to understand the reasoning behind the governors' decision to close it down.

Rowing is not an elite sport, it should be accessible at every level.

The London Oratory School Boat Club is a triumph and exceptional. It provides real opportunities for boys who cannot take part in rugby such as my son who has very poor eyesight and who is now a committed rower.

Rowing is a sport where participants learn leadership skills, develop social skills and how to work as a team. It's a great way to stay fit and is a sport that can be enjoyed for most of your life. It's a wonderful sport to offer young people, please don't take it away

It is not fair to take away this great sporting opportunity from the boys. The amount of money involved is nothing compared to the money just promised to the DUP or the Overseas Aid budget.

Rowing offers young people an opportunity which almost unique. It builds both teamwork and individual responsibility/growth potential and is one the most welcoming sports I have ever encountered in nearly 40 years of competing, coaching and reporting. We need to ensure that the sport offers this opportunity to ALL children regardless of educational or social status and LOSBC is one of the few facilities (let alone schools) that gives children this great experience.
Of course we are aware that there is financial pressure and any cuts are painful but if you HAVE to cutback please consider one of the other sports where children CAN easily get experience elsewhere such as football, cricket, rugby etc before you cut SUCH a valuable resource.

You cannot underestimate the effect of a team building sport like rowing on the development of a young person. Individual, crew, school, country.

This would be a retrograde step for the school.
The school needs its rowing team and boat house.

Rowing is such a unique sport from an educational perspective, and the pupils at LOS would lose out hugely if it was stopped. The sport as a whole also still suffers from an elitist image, and the reality is that the majority of schools that offer it are private. For the sport to be truly inclusive, we desperately need the growth of state schools offering rowing to their pupils.

As a proud rower who started the sport at school (albeit private), I can say that the discipline & friendships gained through this fantastic sport have mounded my life.
It's a crying shame that LOSBC is under threat.

Sport, in general, and rowing, in particular, provides discipline and leadership skills that are necessary for life success.

My daughter's school, Balfron High School in Scotland has won lots of Scottish Schools medals recently. It's been incredibly beneficial for the crew and the wider school and shows the non-elitist nature of rowing and how a broad base of different sports in a school engages so many who may not be ball sports players. I've even been encouraged to take up the sport myself aged 49 and have the blisters to prove it! Don't Close Your Rowing Programme.
