As a parent at LOS, I was especially taken at the initial parents evening when Mr McFadden said that the objective of the LOS was to strive to achieve "well rounded young men." It is not all about results but to give children from all backgrounds a chance to try things that may not be on offer otherwise in their lives. I genuinely believe that rowing has helped my son achieve discipline, determination and teamwork in a sport that he has come to love but would never had had a chance to learn at another state school in London. The governors must seriously consider this decision and keep the boat club going while funding can be found through the great support group.

I think it would be a pity that the great achivement of this year would be the last.It is a great team sport and a great recognition for the school to have a healthy young and strong rowing team.

As a parent and fund raiser for Tiffin School I fully understand both positions.
As an Olympic legacy coach I am disgusted that the school funding formula forces sports off the curriculum.
For those yet to try rowing at Oratory I hope that you are successful, I would point at Windsor Boys and their recent success at Henley and the good work done by Tiffin School as examples but fear that if you fold they will soon follow due to "austerity" measures.

Why close the rowing at the London Oratory when so much has been achieved.
The boys have given the Oratory a name in rowing to be proud off, the Oratory should recognize this as an opportunity not closure, all the boys have worked so hard to do what they have achieved over weekends and holidays, their commitment has been unbelievable and not just at rowing but at school work too.
I speak on behalf for my son Daniel in J14 who has had a great year, not only in rowing but for his wellbeing and attitude towards his school work too, he’s has managed to get great grades this year and turned himself into a fine young man.
A lot of credit for this is through his coaches and the discipline driven into them with the commitment to work with them through school and rowing making sure both run together.
I’m a parent who is proud that my son managed so much to find that your now closing the rowing, you can’t rip the heart out of these boys they deserve better.

Rowing helps youngsters develop teamwork, and discipline while keeping healthy and being part of a wider sporting community. Especially youngsters that don't have an affinity for ball/field games.

I learnt to row at another of the few state schools to offer rowing. The LOS programme needs to be supported.

I think as many people as possible should be able to have the chance to take up rowing, and this closure is limiting so many students from exposure to the sport.

Rowing is such a big part of LOS history and equity. If funding is not an issue than why cant it continue?

LOSBC needs to be seen on the rowing circuit. A great star school, offering all round sporting opportunity. It has to remain.
We need to see them on the rowing circuit.
Please support this !!

Rowing brings benefits to students other than sporting & health- teamwork, organisation, resilience, discipline. These opportunities should be expanded rather than cut.

Please don't close the rowing club. It's one of the few state school clubs that compete at a high level and the boys love it!

Rowing at the oratory gave me skills for life. Mr Boileau and elphicke were incredible leaders and role models. It would be criminal to take this opportunity for future state school educated children. It is as aspect of the oratory which lifts the school from good to great. Believe it also had a large part getting me into Durham University. Please reconsider! Many thanks, Robert. LOS alumni

It seems illogical and a disservice to the students to end the rowing programme if LOSBC Support Group has raised funds to continue rowing program for another year.
Let's support LOSBC to give students the opportunity to row, as well as time to support the program beyond 2018.
The club has done very well in the last two years and built up the tradition in the school -- another channel for students to foster teamwork, discipline, friendship.
