I have lived a life less ordinary because of rowing. It was my very reason for being at school (a state school) and the lessons I learned whilst rowing in the presence of my peers were more valuable than any lessons I learned in a classroom.

We need to ensure and secure state school rowing opportunities in order to keep participation opportunities to those who do not attend public schools

Please reconsider the decision to close the boat club - it would be such a loss to the school.

Dear Governors, Please come down to the boathouse one day or join us at a race to see what sense of solidarity, maturity, fun, sportmanship these boys demonstrate! It's a great opportunity not to miss, for the boys, for the school! Thank you, Camilla de Barry

Extending rowing to ALL schools is not only fair but necessary if rowing is to continue to grow into mainstream Britain. The London Oratory School Boat Club must be allowed to continue. The benefits to the boys and girls are tangible not only physically but academically.

As chair of a group of 55 directors of rowing in schools (The Kitchin Society) I am desperately concerned about the possible demise of a boat club in the maintained education sector.

If the funds exist, then there is no reason to shut down the rowing program which the boys obviously benefit from. Please do not shut down the program.
