What is the problem if funds have been raised to cover the next 12months programme?

Please save the rowing for boys who would not ordinarily be able to take part in this activity.

Rowing is an ideal sport for young people. It builds confidence, is probably the ultimate team sport and helps enormously with time management.
Rowers go on to have successful careers as well as shining academically, including scholarships to ivy league universities.
To discontinue rowing seems a retrograde step, to put it mildly.

Having experienced the personal growth that rowing can deliver, the governors' decision will have an impact on not just this year of LOSBC, but on the rest of their students' lives. I would urge them to reconsider, and allow the program to continue.

Rowing at LOS has changed the futures of many of the pupils. Unlike rugby it is about concentration, focus, non-contact, science, technique, dedication, early mornings, trust. It can lead to offers from top Universities and employers. Why is the science side not studied?

As a teacher and coach at a state funded Grammar School I understand the pressures financially. It would be a huge shame to see such a successful rowing programme go. Rowing is a powerful sport in building the core values needed to thrive in academia shaping our young men and women and preparing them for the world of work behind their school and university lives, how will they fill the gap rowing will leave?

I would like to see more state schools enable or provide rowing as a sport and hope that the very successful club of LOS continue. I am sure the rowing community can find ways of supporting its funding (and those of other clubs and schools) in the future.

rowing is so much to my daughter, it would change her life if it was taken away. I hope the school can keep offering this to their pupils, giving them all that sport can provide

Ex pupil at LOS. Certain aspects such as the variety of extra curricular activities are what helped the school thrive.

This sport teaches the pupils how to work together but also how to value their individual and complementary strengths. It also helps with mentoring skills and builds a team spirit like no other sport I have seen.

Really important to keep this going as an opportunity for these young children to participate in this fantastic sport. LOSBC is one of very few competitive state school rowing clubs and should be preserved at all costs.
