Our grandson never showed much interest in sport until he discovered rowing. It has transformed him, He has become physically fit and looks forward to his regular training sessions, going on the river and the competitions with other schools.

As the parents are willing to work with the school to sustain the club the governors should be at the forefront of encouraging and showing leadership rather than being seen to want to frustrate both the rowers & their parents

This decision needs a re-think. Fundraising will surely cover any financial shortfall and sponsors might come forward if only they are given the chance.

These boys deserve the opportunity to continue with the sport they love. Exercise is so important for their physical and mental health and we need future generations to continue the legacy of the London Olympics. As an ex pupil of the school I am saddened that the Oratory's great rowing tradition may be lost.

Kids showing interest and talent in rowing should be encouraged not discouraged.

This is as incredible programme and has been the making of my son at LOS. Why oh why would the governors cancel the programme if we've even raised the funds to secure it for at least the next academic year? Please don't just focus on rugby - it's not for everyone and rowing is a fabulous alternative team sport. Thank you.

These kids have such spirit and dedication. It will be devastating if they are not given the chance to continue with this sport which makes them want to achieve and be better human beings.

Rowing is one of the best sports for learning to work as a team yet also promote individual aspiration and develop organisational skills. It develops someone's ability to listen to others and appreciate someone else's point of view. Which is why employers actually like to employ rowers, as they understand the dedication and hard work it involves. I fully support this petition.
