Rowing was the only sport I could do well at, being hopeless at ball games. It is sad that it is available in so few state schools, and really important to keep what we have.

Rowing is a good part of any education and to stop the rowing at the school is very short sighted. School boat clubs are usually well supported by parents and alumni for funding and practical help. It just needs the governors and management to find a way to continue to offer rowing at the school

Our sons have been well-served academically by LOS, but as Mr McFadden, the former Headmaster, said on the evening when we first visited the school, it is not the academics that makes LOS a Catholic school, but its pastoral concern for the boys and the character formation it offers. That care and concern is manifested fully in the concern the coaches show for each boy and what makes him tick. To abandon rowing would be to miss a huge trick in terms of the prestige that being a successful state school in rowing brings, but most of all, it would be a dereliction on the part of the governors of the pastoral concern for the boys that is expected of the staff by the parents, who as the Catholic Church teaches are the first educators of their children.

As a past pupil. I have only praise for the school and it's brilliant sports opportunities it's provides. Not this can't be at the expense of other pupils

Every child should get the opportunity to try rowing. A school rowing programme can help pupils succeed at acadaemics.

Does rowing not make us proud at international level? Do the governors only have interests in Football? Please make a decision which can help identifying how Great Britain is different then other countries when it comes to national pride.
