Please please keep the London Oratory Rowing club going! It's so important to every pupil who is proudly rowing for their school!

I learned to row at my State Comprehensive School over 55 years ago and it has provided me with much fun and pleasure ever since. Please do not deprive these youngsters of the same opportunity.

I hope that the Governors will reconsider their decision, and keep the School Boat Club functioning.

I was very lucky to have a rowing programme at the state school I attended. I chose that school with the hope that I would be able to try rowing (it is even more the case today that when choosing schools young people and parents look very closely at the extra curricular activities on offer). It has influenced everything I have done since leaving school 18 years ago and I know many many people who it has had the same impact on. I hadn't found any sport I enjoyed or could excel at until I tried rowing. Working in sport I still see the benefits for everyone to find 'their sport', something they enjoy and can acheive their best in. Please give these young people the opportunity to grow and develop through rowing.

This is such an important part of a child development: self discipline, team work, dedication... As the necessary funds have been raised by the support Group for the next academic year, please give the boys the opportunity to bring their skill to a great success

I think it's really important that the LOS children continue to have access to rowing facilities. This is a valuable form of exercise and the teamwork teaches boys life skills.

My nephews have both rowed at LOS, I rowed at one of the few state schools that row and every effort should be made to ensure that rowing should not be a sport for the elite.

I'm so thankful for the school rowing programme. The staff put so much into the boys all-round formation and the boys are being inspired and achieving remarkable results. Alongside the Schola, it is one of the highlights of the school!

I think it is very disappointing that the Boat Club is being shut down even though the parents have raised the funds. I can see how much it means to my big brother and I can see how hard he has worked to get into the position he is in and how hard all of his team have worked together to achieve what they have achieved.

Good luck. The governors have a duty to the school and its children- they are wilfully blind to the consequences of their actions.

There is no reason why the Rowing Club should be shut down now that the funds have been raised. My son has thrived and developed enormously thanks to the values that have been instilled by the Club - collaboration with others, self discipline, dedication and commitment to others.

Sport is a wonderful element in personal development and I don't need to rehearse the benefits here.
Among all sports rowing is perhaps the embodiment of all that is to be achieved and rewarded:
Personal effort and commitment to others,
Physical refreshment from academic pressure,
Achieving goals through self and team discipline and strategy,
The sheer joy of the boat singing beneath you.
Don't just cave in to budget cuts. Be bold and find a way forward.
