Rowing offers kids so much more than just the obvious from participation in sport. It is fairly unique among sports in teaching about team, self, winning & losing etc... keep LOSBC open for the greater good.

It's the Thames, The London Oratory, it's at their own expense why not let them row?

Why would you take away something that these children enjoy , are good at and can achieve good things

I would like as many students at London Oratory derive as much pleasure, team spirit and discipline from rowing as so many of my friends and contemporaries were privileged so to do.

It would not only be a terrible shame to undo the hard work and investment of previous classes of LOS, but it would deprive so many future students of the camaraderie and character they can get through a rowing programme. Additionally, it would be a blow to the entire Tideway community to lose yet another programme of competitors and colleagues.

I've seen my nephew transformed from a couch potato to a first class rower good enough to go to Henley this year. His confidence has soared through hard work, discipline and teamwork. These admirable elements, all essential for the world of work are excellent qualities. How wonderful that he has this brilliant opportunity, how tragic that he and future pupils may not have rowing available to him. With continued training, the rowing team could take The Oratory to glory. What is the board of governors thinking in shutting down a healthy, wholesome activity that benefits the whole school through its positive contribution. I understand that a private funder has been found. There is no reason for it to close.

It has always been wonderful to see the oratory boys compete with such determination and pride. The value of being in a boat and part of a crew at any level is something to value. Please keep your boat club alive. Make the right appointment and the club will fly.

This boat club is a standard bearer for State school rowing. It's vitally important for the sport irrespective of all it does for it's members.

Rowing is a great team sport and an important part of the Schools' extra curricular activities. Please reconsider.

It was an honour to see LOS competing alongside the likes of Eton at Henley Royal Regatta last year.
