The lighthouse is a very special place for teenagers and children in Dorset who are artistically inclined. Offering a youth facility where kids can go to express themselves creatively is statistically proven to reduce crime, and mischief in the areas surrounding because it gives people something to do and feel valued in doing. I spent many of my nights aged 16 jamming with friends at the lighthouse, and have since become a full time professional musician, in part thanks to their help. Please save the lighthouse

The Lighthouse is one of the few purpose built centres for young people in Christchurch and is at the heart of youth music culture across the conurbation. Particularly in light of the Cultural Enquiry that BCP is undergoing, it is evident that institutions such as the Lighthouse are absolutely fundamental to putting BCP on the cultural 'map' let alone simply as safe spaces for young people to hang out.

Disgusting! If it wasn't for youthclubs (r.i.p Numbers 896) I wouldn't have learnt how to dj, run events, get my first job or travel to loads of countries. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I CAN HELP OUT IN ANY WAY.

This place means a lot to young people that play music and that like social places, shutting this place down would ruin people’s enthusiasm as it provides a safe space for people to make friends and find new interests. This place is keeping young people out of trouble and the staff there are extremely caring and considerate. Frankly, shutting this place down would be a mistake as it will take away people’s creativity. The Lighthouse needs to stay for young people’s sake

This is a great place for young people to access help if they need it, and play music rather than drinking, smoking and getting in trouble in the surrounding parks and streets - which will inevitably occur upon it's closure.

Why would the authority’s wish to take away a lifeline and support to young people it just doesn’t make sense, The Lighthouse has the potential to impact positively on the wider community giving our future generations a sense of purpose and the basic foundations for life

Without the lighthouse I would have never pursued a career in music and acting. As a result I have toured Europe twice as a musician and performed all around the country - along with obtaining a place at the BRIT school back in 2012. It has helped shape the life I live and the person I am for the better.
