We have a new council, BCP. This decision needs to be investigated. Poole still has a Youth Service and Poole based councillors understand the importance of retaining youth workers and youth clubs.

Growing up with the lighthouse was One of main highlights of my youth, it would be beyond a shame for the community to lose such a valuable and essential service. I know I speak for many others when I say it would be a a huge misfortune to our community to let this building and all the people it has helped, and still is helping down. Funding and government priorities will always be in issue. Providing young people with a safe environment to thrive should be a priority.

It is vital for so many reasons that this excellent resource is maintained; for the support of young people, for the nurturing of talent, for the service it provides to the wider community, in giving young people the resources, education, support and respect they need to thrive. It is also vital to recognise the contribution of so many good people who have made the Lighthouse the success it is, through their determination and hard work, freely and willingly given. This project must be allowed to continue.

I think that it is important for young people to have a safe haven that they can go to every week to be free and to be able to speak out about any issues that they may have to people that are not family. Also it reduces youth trouble in our streets.

This is scandalous. Russ's and the Lighthouse's contribution to the local youth and music is immeasurable. New council post election. The BPC is more varied in its makeup than it has ever been. Many of the old guard have been removed. We should all write to our councillors, stressing the importance of this facility, and campaign to get this disgraceful decision reversed. No matter which area of the Bournemouth, Poole, and Christchurch conurbation you live in, I urge you all to write to your councillor and protest.

It would be a catastrophe to lose this last youth facility in the town centre. Every effort must be made to find them an alternative venue if they can't remain at The Lighthouse

This idea to close down the ONLY source for young people to get away from hanging around the streets is ludicrous! There is nothing for them to do or nowhere for them to go as it is! We need MORE youth clubs and distractions for young people not less!

Honestly I don't know where I'd be without the Lighthouse. I've been involved in the Thursday night music project both as an attendee and a volunteer for nearly a decade now and can hand on heart say it's been the single most important part of my teenage years. It's offered a safe space, and friendly faces to myself and everyone who goes. I think it's closure is incredibly short sighted and will cost the community of Christchurch a lot in the long run. Lighthouse isn't just a youth club, it's a family of people from all different backgrounds. It welcomes those who maybe aren't having the greatest time and allows them to be themselves and express themselves however they like. Above all, it helps teens grow into lovely rounded human beings - the sort I'd like in my community. Long may Lighthouse continue in some shape or form, it's closure would be a complete tragedy.

Youth clubs are essential in our community. Teenagers need focus without it they can become detached from their community.
