I hope so much you'll keep the Lab School pool! We have benefitted so much from the use of the pool for the past several years through Sea Devils. There are so few indoor pools in the entire DC area. I know land is scarce, but it would be such a shame to take away this wonderful facility. Swimming is a lifetime sport and I notice that my kids are always in a good mood after doing laps in the pool! I think it's good for mind and body.
A theater would be wonderful, but having a pool is such a very unique feature of the Lab School. So few schools have a pool! As for a theater, there seem to be plenty, and it wouldn't get nearly as much use as a pool.
Swimming is a wonderful lifetime sport!

Save the pool! It is invaluable in this community and a way for the Lab School to maintain very strong community relations.

We love the pool as SDS swimmers. However, it's hard to believe a school would deny its students such a lovely pool. The sport builds confidence, relaxes kids, and of course, keeps them fit. What could be a better use for the space?

The decision to close the pool is shocking. This has been one of the best swimming venues our son has attended over the years. I support any proposal to keep it open and to manage it better, bring in swimming teams from the DC area capitalizing on its excellent location between DC, Maryland and Virginia.

Swimming is as important as theatre, and pool options are very limited in the city. Please reconsider and keep the pool open for the many children from swim organization who use the Lab pool.
With many thanks.

It it weren't for Lab pool, our daughter would not have been able to join Sea Devils. What can Sea Devils do to help keep it open?

I urge you to keep the pool open at Lab School to meet the physical education needs of the students and the community. I am a parent of a Sea Devils swimmer.

The Lab School depends on DC, and DC depends on Lab School. It is truly amazing to me that as DC (which needs public school space in NW), plans to renew the Lab School's lease on the Hardy building on what appear to be great terms, that at the same time Lab School would consider shutting down the pool, on which the DC community relies. This would be an incredible waste of the funds used to construct the pool. Please do not turn the DC community against Lab School.

Our children have swam at the Lab School for years. They started as toddlers with Trina and Rodger and my daughter now swims with SDS. We were considering GDS next year and we were so happy that hear that they also use the Lab school's pool. It's a neighborhood treasure and has been a constant in our famiy for years. I am sure so many families and schools feel the same. It's a great facility and it's convenient for so many DC families. Please don't close your pool. We think/hope that school will be able to get a theatre space and maintain the pool by thinks my out of the box on a solution and with the support of the community and/or city.

The pool is a tremendous asset to both the school and the surrounding community- I'm certain a majority of lab school families past and present would prefer to keep the pool rather than raze it and build another theater in its place. Please reconsider not wasting such an invaluable resource and the alumni contributions it took to build and maintain it.
The Lab School has provided vital access to an invaluable life skill for so many grateful families over the years. The ripple effect has continued to bless the lives of many more. Just keep swimming!
