As a swim parent I directly see the impact swimming has on all kinds of kids. In particular, it's a great sport for kids who have difficulty fitting in to team sports. Swimming, for them, is a lifeline socially. Not only do our athletes learn social skills, but also directly experience lessons of fluid dynamics, exercise physiology and sport psychology in a supportive environment. Not only does this sport benefit kids, it's a rare sport that is life-long activity. Do the right thing for the kids and families!!

As grandparents of a student who has been at the Lab School of Washington for six years, we have appreciated that your school had an on-campus pool that enabled the inclusion of swimming in the physical education program and made possible the establishment of a swim team. Our grandson has been able to gain more skills and confidence by his participation in swimming, compared with other sports. Removing the pool would result in a significant loss of learning opportunities for our grandson and other Lab students with similar challenges.

As an alumni parent, I am very concerned that the Lab administration is considering closing of the pool. It was and is a great resource--both in summer camp and during the school year. It allowed for inclusion, everyone knows how to play in water and everyone can learn to swim. I am surprised since the pool was always featured in all marketing materials, and Lab yearly videos. What changed?

Please keep this pool open. My son swims and doing this helped him to learn disciple and set goals. This pool is needed as a resource to do the same for other young swimmers. Please reconsider.

Swimming is a good sport and activities for kids of all ages as well as adult. It keeps them focus, give them perseverance, and teach them responsibilities and priorities as well as being healthy, and we need to keep the pools open in order to give our kids a chance to develop these qualities. Please find a way to keep the pool open.

Please reconsider. I understand that pools are an expensive part of any operation, however, we are so limited on pool access that I would hate to see any facility close. Thank you for reconsidering.

I am grateful to the Lab School for the incredible resource provided by its pool. Two of my children are swimmer's and as a result, are strong and able members of society. As the Lab school offers every one of its students, swimming gives children confidence, determination, physical strength, organization skills & generally, empowers them to succeed in life.

My children have swam at the Lab School since they were 6 mos old! For 16 years, we have depended on the Lab School to provide a safe, convenient aquatic environment. We love the pool and appreciate the Lab School's dedication to water safety and experience. Please don't close the pool! We need it. Hillary

Swimming can keep kids from chasing their dreams, and shutting down pools is the barrier that holds them from it

Please do not shut down the pool at the LAB School. It is much needed in the DMV swim community. I am sure the community can work with the school to support its needs.
