The Lab School pool is a wonderful way to support the broader Washington DC community - we have really appreciated the Lab School's support of our swim program!

I think you should reconsider closing the pool. Swimming is an amazing activity that all ages can participate in. I have taken several swim classes in this location. Thank you.

Where I grew up, almost every high school had it's own pool. The fact that few schools in the DC metro area have pools is such a shame. Please don't close an existing pool.

The sport of swimming keeps young people occupied, healthy and squeaky clean. A loss of any facility is a huge loss to the sport and the community. To replace such a valuable asset to the school with a theater makes no sense. There is no shortage of theater space in our area but there is a great shortage of pool space for an ever-growing sport. Please keep this facility open and available.

I'm writing to encourage you to consider keeping your pool. As a USA Swimming official and long-time parent of swimmers, our family has experienced tremendous value from the sport of swimming and the community swimming fosters. Communities are desperate for pools; please consider keeping yours!

As a parent of a competitive swimmer, I believe we need more pools and not less. Competitive swimming in the Washington, D.C., region is at an all time high...offering many kids wonderful opportunities not only to compete, but to engage in physical activity and make lasting friendships. I, of course, support the arts but to close a swimming pool that serves the community in favor of a theater is not the answer!

My family and I have been swimming at the Lab School pool since it opened. I thought the community swim program was intended to foster good relations between the school and its surrounding community. Are good community relations no longer important to the school? In view of the concerns some members of the community have expressed about the Lab School's long-term lease from DCPS of the old Hardy School, at a time when Key Elementary and other DCPS schools are overcrowded and resorting to trailers, I should think good community relations would be a high priority for the Lab School. The reduced community swim hours in recent years and now the proposed closure of the pool are a slap in the community's face.

Such a shame take away such a great opportunity for the community. Shocking that it is not more valued at your school!

The pool is a very important part of our Lab school experience. It's one of the reasons we choose Lab. And now that one of our daughters is newly diagnosed with type one diabetes, physical education and physical outlets like swimming are more important that ever. Swimming and water education has been very positive for both of them. Please keep the pool!!!!
