My sisters both benifited greatly from the IB program. One of my greatest regrets is that I was unable to participate in IB in high school because my school did not have the program. As a result, I struggled in my first interdisciplinary classes in college, because I had no experience in that kind of learning. If I had been able to participate in the IB program I would have been much better prepared for college. My sisters are stronger students because of this program, and I have seen how it has added value to their educations and their lives. This program should not be cut.

The IB program not only helps students just like me to prepare for the demands and workloads we will experience in college, but it also allows us to learn about the subjects we are interested in in more detail than we ever could with AP!

I am an IB certificate senior at Shawnee Mission Northwest, and I cannot stress how beneficial IB has been in my education. I have taken my fair share of both IB and AP courses, and see the value in both. However, where IB stands above AP in mind, is in the way that IB teaches students to examine teachings and draw conclusions. Whereas AP curriculum is more spoon-fed and dense, IB allows students to make in-depth analysees in every course. IB teaches students how to think, and this is a skill that will prove invaluable throughout our lives. Eliminating IB from schools would limit future generations from experiencing an immersive, thought-provoking education that creates a sincere passion for scholarship.

Do not get rid of the IB programs. It helps the kids decide what they want to do with their future.

AP Shoves information down your throat while IB teaches you how to learn and adapt throughout life.

It is time for the people of Kansas to wake up and realize what the present government at all levels are doing to the education of our young people.

The IB program sets a high standard and pushes students to achieve. I can't believe that SMSD would consider cutting this program. If SMSD is serious about preparing leaders for our future they should fund this program.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. - MLK LETS STAND FOR IB!

I just graduated from SMSD this last year, and I was an IB diploma candidate. I did take AP courses as well, however nothing prepared me more then IB for college. Also, I'm not sure what budget cuts are being considered because every student in the district has a macbook pro. All I have to say is if SMSD wants to improve education there needs to be more opportunities for students who want to challenge themselves, and without IB this isn't possible. I hope IB stays in SMSD.

IB shows a large amount of commitment a student is willing to undertake and we learn and process information that will be retained for, likely, years. It's important to keep the program going!!
