Having an IB program makes the district a better district, hands down. It is a unique educational opportunity that has benefitted many students and spurred them on to make great change in the world. To cut it would be a grave disservice to the students we aim to educate.

IB absolutely, hands down made my college experience more meaningful than it would have been had I just done a standard college preparatory program like AP. Not only did it help me get in to a competitive school (Vassar College in NY), but it helped me succeed academically there. I felt very prepared for college after IB and did not struggle to "catch up" with the rigorous coursework during the first year unlike many of my AP peers. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa with departmental and general honors, and also earned an award for my thesis (which was basically an extended Extended Essay). Additionally, our IB program created a close-knit social network that did not exist for AP students. Many of us from the IB program are still friends, over 6 years later, and we have had reunions since graduation. Please, keep IB! It is a life-changing program!!!

IB provided my students with genuinely world class perspectives and skills. Not only where they prepared for college, their curiosity and sense of adventure were nurtured. Losing IB will be a blow to District excellence.

Not only did the IB program prepare me for college (I'm among many of the students here who will be graduating from college in 3 years), but the IB program at SME equipped me with the skills to engage more fully with class material than most of my college classmates.

.Without the IB I would not have had the preparation that was necessary for me to continue my education at university with the effectiveness that the program enabled me to. This program is essential to the study habits I practice now and created a drive for pursuing knowledge that I take advantage of in every class I've taken following graduation from the IB program. Not only did the program work leave it's mark on me but the teachers that I was privelaged to be taught by were some of the greatest people I've met in my life; they taught us beyond the subject matter, caring about our progression on a personal level

I think it's a shame that this is even being considered as a program worth cutting. This helps prepare our young people for college and keeps them competitive to reach their goals.

I graduated last year and I really enjoyed my IB classes. Sure, they were hard work, but it fit my learning style much better than AP classes and I know others feel the same.

Students who are focused on being PREPARED for college, rather than entering school with as many credits completed as they can, rely on the IB program. In depth learning is what education is all about. Memorization and pounding information into your mind for a test falls far short of what IB can provide.

This program meant so much to me as my development into a cultured, hard-working individual. This program stresses socratic methods and integrates world class education. It is a lot of hard work, but it is recognized across the world. Many of the international students and I frequently have conversations about how the IB program impacted our high school lives. IB teaches students beyond what the classroom normally can teach them. It fosters a supportive, collaborative and engaging environment that encourages students to do their best; thus, it cultivates a well-rounded student.

Please continue to support our high achieving students. It would be terrible to take this opportunity away from our brightest students.
