The SMSD is seriously considering cutting the IB Program from our budget. While we do recognize the need for budget cuts, we believe this should not mean the end of IB. Signing this petition acknowledges that you value the benefits of the IB program and do not believe it should be cut from the district. COME TO THE DISTRICT BOARD MEETING MONDAY, JANUARY 25TH, TO SHOW SOLIDARITY FOR THE IB PROGRAM AT THE MCEACHEN ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER BOARD ROOMS, 7235 ANTIOCH ROAD, SHAWNEE MISSION, KS 66204 AT 7:00 PM.

Went to Shawnee Mission Northwest, then went to an out-of-state college and learned that Kansas education is (rightly) considered a joke. IB was just about the only worthwhile thing I did in high school. SMSD, don't make a mistake you'll regret.

Education is what drives a country forward, we shouldn't cut away success for our students from our schools. What I must ask is how we have enough money for MacBooks for every student yet we have to cut a program for enriched education.

As a graduate of the Shawnee Mission East IB program, I am sad to see this even being considered. This program is one of the most impactful experiences of my life. It prepared me for far more than college, and it is a time that I still think of fondly.

Both of our daughters were IB students and gained enormously from the program. The program teaches how to think, not how to memorize. If funding can't support the 3 current schools, better to reduce the number of schools than cancel the program

My grandson, Andrew McWard, graduated from this program and it helped him gain enhanced financial assistance for college. Our 2nd grandson, Alex, is currently a junior in the program and doing very well and we hope for a similar outcome
