Keep the tradition! Not only is it a way to get the whole stadium involved, but it also fosters great sportsmanship by including members from the visiting team's band!

This is uniquely VT and a favorite of many (who doesn't want to do the hokie pokie with 60,000+ of your closest friends in Lane stadium?)

Keep the hokey pokey! This is UNIQUE to va tech and the tradition needs to stay!
It's don't during a commercial break anyways & I personally think that the loud rap music that has been played is offensive at times and let's take one of those songs out if the mix & keep a tradition. It's tradition that sets us apart from the other schools

Isn't the Hokie Pokie what it's all about? Disappointed that athletics doesn't seem to care about celebrating our traditions. The Hokie pokie is the one part of the game that the whole stadium, including the visiting team, come together. We already do Lets Go plenty during the game. Over using it isn't going to make things more exciting

Being a Hokie is more than just cheering on our football team. The Hokie Pokie brings everyone together regardless of school affiliation. I spent four years in the MVs and one of my favorite moments in each game was watching the other band's tubas walk over to join our tubas in the end zone.

Seems silly to me to cut something like this. What kind of toughness is the marketing team aiming for and why? Isn't our school motto Ut Prosim? Why not try to include something that signifies or promotes service to our community? That's way more important than appearing tough. Are we having a hard time filling Lane Stadium for home games? I'm just confused why we need to take the fun and enjoyment out of a sporting event in favor of creating a more competitive atmosphere. We're already competitive and that comes from our spirit as HOKIES!!! The Hokie Pokie represents part of that spirit and school pride. There are better way to give our team a more competitive edge than getting rid of a fan favorite, which you can't have without our amazing MV's!!! - Candice Brown, class of 2009.

The Corps, student section, and alumni section all participate in this tradition each and every home game. This is much more than a "silly dance." The Hokie Pokie is an opportunity to show how tradition connects us all, student and alumni alike.
Besides, it's not our fault if visiting teams get their feelings hurt by being beat by dancing Hokies.
