I am so disappointed in this decision. Why get rid of a unique and special tradition that is for the fans . Including the tubas from the opposing team was such a great touch ,

There is absolutely no reason for this tradition to be erased. The Hokie Pokie in the third quarter stretch is a service to both the good and bad times in Lane Stadium: raising the energy and excitement during a great game and boosting morale in a not-so-great one. The bands love it, the kids love it, the fans love it. The Hokie Nation does not support this idea.

Keep the Hokie Pokie! It is a great tradition and shows great sportsmanship because of the invitation to the opposing team's band to participate!

As a former member of the VT Spirit program, one of the best moments of the home game was to rush the field and lead the stadium in the Hokie Pokie. While fans are there to see the Hokies defeat the other team, the Hokie Pokie provided a moment for fans of all ages to be ACTIVELY part of something bigger.

The Hokie Pokie is introduced at football games as "One of the Greatest Band Traditions in the Land." A tradition becomes that because of repetition and expectation - traditions are not shiny and new. This would be like the defense giving up the lunch pail for a sledgehammer: it simply won't happen especially under Bud's watch. Before shelving a tradition to make room for something else, I would suggest the athletics department considers this new tradition take place during the Hokies' first score (TD/FG) in the second half, or perhaps the first media timeout of the 4th quarter. It would provide the opportunity for a new tradition to occur at a moment not reserved for an old tradition.

The Hokie Pokey is an integral part of the Virginia tech football tradition. I would be sad to see it go.

I was a member of the marching Virginians. The Hokie Pokie is something that every Hokie should continue to experience. Also people start learning it as children and it sticks in their minds. Other people know us for it too. It's a great tradition. It needs to be kept.

I would prefer sportsmanship and lighthearted rivalry be a focus rather than creating an impression of toughness. Lane is consistently ranked one of the toughest places to play for visitors because the FANS make so much noise. Keep the noise, keep the toughness, keep the Hokie Pokie!

I think it's ridiculous to take away such a well known Tech tradition. What's next - getting rid of the Hokie Bird since he's not "tough" enough?
