As a former member of the Marching Virginians, and being a tuba player, this news that they are trying to get rid of this popular tradition is very sad... I do hope that they will listen to this plea!!

I love how we get all the tubas on the field, including the visiting bands. The kids look forward to it at every game too.

This is such an important part of every Hokie game! The opposing band is invited to play as well and it invokes spirit and good sportsmanship! Don't take this away!

This is one of the best traditions in college football and for VT football specifically. Eliminating this does not create a tougher atmosphere. This gives us spirit and makes VT unique. Now turn yourselves around and keep this tradition!

Cheering "let's go HOKIES" is wonderful. It can and is done at various times during the game and should be. BUT the Hokey Pokey is not played at every game unless during the traditional end of 3rd quarter. Please do not take this long-standing tradition away from the school, the students, the fans, and the Marching Virginians.

How sad. The MVs ARE the Spirit of Tech and each year we get to hear less and less from them. Unlike other schools in the ACC, we actually have a talented band that can play! The HOKIE Pokie IS what it's all about...keep the end of the 3rd quarter tradition and let 65,000 fans continue to do the HOKIE Pokie!

VT has a lot of very smart people. I am sure you can figure out a way to save the HOKIE POKIE and get some of the new initiatives started. I loved some of the new ideas...but also love me some HOKIE POKIE!!
