The team needs the stadium behind it. The best way to get all the Hokies, (from the first game freshman down to the alumni) on their feet together is the hokie police. I played it at my wedding for crying out loud. If the athletics department is worried about the team going "soft" over this one thing, they've got a bigger problem than they know. Don't cut hokie history. -class of '07 alumn

I can't believe this. I read that the replacement is more chants of "Let's go! Hokies!" Considering we already do that chant in abundance, I don't understand why we need to replace the Hokie Pokie with that.

Tougher? It is signature marketing and a key part of the brand. Fire your marketing staff. They are trying to change something in their own image. Where is the data supporting the change?

The Hokie Pokie between the third and fourth quarters has been a tradition at Tech home games for as long as I remember. When I was playing, it was something that energized the whole team, with the support from the fans standing and participating. Coach Fuente may as well get rid of Skipper and the Hokie Bird! Another example of his failure to understand what it means to be a REAL Hokie!

As an MV alum this would be a true disappointment to dissolve a tradition that embodies Hokie spirit. Don't let it die!
