There are many great parts about working for HLK. The work-life balance, the work hard play hard mentality, the culture, the people, and the GYM. For many of us, our lifestyles are just too busy that we often don't make time for the gym before or after work. That's why there is a GYM in the building. To help you build your strength, take a break, and release some work day stress. Many of us love using the company GYM and don't want it to go away. Healthy employees are happier, more energetic, and work smarter. Sign here if you want to save our GYM.

I have to admit I was really excited to learn about the gym here. My husband travels a lot for work, so when he is gone I can't put my kids to bed and leave the house to go on a run or wake up before them and go for a run. Nor can I workout when they are awake, it's like fighting monkeys because they try to climb all over me. The HLK gym is an extreme bonus for me! And it's nice to know I work for a company that supports a healthy lifestyle.

I use it everyday that I don't work through lunch (3-5 times a week). I really love that I can make it part of my routine and it's a great midday break to get ready for the afternoon.

The gym is a selling point to anyone looking to join HLK. I just started and haven't had a chance to use it, but I do plan to.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates nearly 80% of adults don't get the recommended amount of exercise each week. Further, less than 5% of adults participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day. To stay healthy, adults aged 19-64 should try to be active daily and should do: at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity such as cycling or fast walking every week, and. strength exercises on two or more days a week that work all the major muscles (legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulders and arms). Access to a facility such as a green space, athletic club, or gym is an issue in itself. Only about one in five homes have parks within a half-mile, and about the same number have a fitness or recreation center within that distance. Changing our behavior is ultimately up to each of us as individuals. However, employers have a tremendous opportunity to help their employees see the value of adopting healthier behaviors so that they can live healthier lives. A workplace culture sets the tone for its employees. A supportive work environment, where managers reinforce a sound wellness strategy, can keep employees motivated and engaged. Wellness and incentive programs can be used to drive and reinforce healthy behaviors, bringing benefits to the employer, the employee, and to the community. Employers may utilize a wide range of wellness initiatives such as smoking cessation programs, flu shots and health fairs, gym memberships, newsletters, and more. While some businesses have instituted very comprehensive wellness programs, others have achieved savings or increased productivity with just a few simple activities that promote healthy behaviors. What’s most important is to commit to wellness promotion in the organization. Worksite health promotion should be viewed as an investment in a business’ most important asset, its employees. Studies show that employees are more likely to be on the job and performing well wh

Having as many options as possible to stay active in our sedentary jobs is really important. For some people this is going to be the only option that's practical.
