The gym is a selling point to anyone looking to join HLK. I just started and haven't had a chance to use it, but I do plan to.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates nearly 80% of adults don't get the recommended amount of exercise each week. Further, less than 5% of adults participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day. To stay healthy, adults aged 19-64 should try to be active daily and should do: at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity such as cycling or fast walking every week, and. strength exercises on two or more days a week that work all the major muscles (legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulders and arms). Access to a facility such as a green space, athletic club, or gym is an issue in itself. Only about one in five homes have parks within a half-mile, and about the same number have a fitness or recreation center within that distance. Changing our behavior is ultimately up to each of us as individuals. However, employers have a tremendous opportunity to help their employees see the value of adopting healthier behaviors so that they can live healthier lives. A workplace culture sets the tone for its employees. A supportive work environment, where managers reinforce a sound wellness strategy, can keep employees motivated and engaged. Wellness and incentive programs can be used to drive and reinforce healthy behaviors, bringing benefits to the employer, the employee, and to the community. Employers may utilize a wide range of wellness initiatives such as smoking cessation programs, flu shots and health fairs, gym memberships, newsletters, and more. While some businesses have instituted very comprehensive wellness programs, others have achieved savings or increased productivity with just a few simple activities that promote healthy behaviors. What’s most important is to commit to wellness promotion in the organization. Worksite health promotion should be viewed as an investment in a business’ most important asset, its employees. Studies show that employees are more likely to be on the job and performing well wh

Having as many options as possible to stay active in our sedentary jobs is really important. For some people this is going to be the only option that's practical.

I like the expansion part. Great thinking Colby!

The gym should also be expanded to include a napping area

I have to admit I was really excited to learn about the gym here. My husband travels a lot for work, so when he is gone I can't put my kids to bed and leave the house to go on a run or wake up before them and go for a run. Nor can I workout when they are awake, it's like fighting monkeys because they try to climb all over me. The HLK gym is an extreme bonus for me! And it's nice to know I work for a company that supports a healthy lifestyle.

Having the gym available to us is extremely convenient, especially in the winter.

I've been going regularly since I started here. One of my favorite things about the office.

I love that HLK has a gym, allowing me to keep my body & mind healthy. It's so hard to work in a fitness plan with such a busy life that we all live (work, family, sleep, etc). The easy access to the gym at HLK is SO NICE and I always brag to people I know about my workplace having such a nice perk that is a gym.

Happy to see the gym being used more frequently now that the heat is on.

I've used this gym! It was for a content photoshoot... but still. Gotta support the HLKers who lead a healthier lifestyle than myself so save our gym, please!

Although I do not currently use the gym here in the AOL building (even though I probably should), I do want to #bethoughtful and support my fellow HLKers who benefit from it regularly :)

I donated my box fan from home to make our workouts a little more comfortable, but a big floor fan would be ideal. :-)

I use it everyday that I don't work through lunch (3-5 times a week). I really love that I can make it part of my routine and it's a great midday break to get ready for the afternoon.

As I walk by the gym every morning on the way to my desk, I begin developing a guilt trip. But, in a good way. We all need a little more guilt... and gym usage, in our lives.

I love that the gym is readily available whenever I need it. Granted, exercise is something I thoroughly despise. BUT, knowing it's there makes me feel healthier. If the treadmill were fixed, I would actually use it though. And many of the others (at least on my team) use the gym regularly. Save the gym, please :)

It's a great place to go to when you've been sitting most of the day. I have a gym membership, but a smaller workout after lunch is key to keeping my muscles tuned for the workout after hours. A little love and I think more employees would consider using it. (Honestly, I am talking about a fan... a fan is what we need.)

I use the gym nearly everyday during lunch! I love having a space in the office that lets me get my sweat on! An office gym is one of the reasons why I love working at HLK. Don't go away. If anything, some improvements would be great! (but that's another battle)
