Everyone I have taken here has loved it. It will be great shame if it closes. The problem is not the museum but the treatment of the square, which is shameful

Shameful to be closing a museum in the run-up to being City of Culture. I think the titel should be taken away if cultural insitutions are allowed to close like this.

City of Culture has to mean something. It can't just be a title. Liverpool succeeded because it's museums are so strong. Don't let Hull down.

I can understand restricting hours to once a week, once a month opening, but to close only to pre-booked groups makes local discovery almost impossible. And how will the collection and building be cared for during non-opening periods? An historic building housing a collection requires environmental, pest, security monitoring and cleaning, at the very least.

If Hull is to be a city of culture by 2017 surely the museum service is part of Hull's cultural heritage?
