As a Groveland alum, I have very fond memories of participating in many events on the stage. Now, as an elementary teacher and mom I fully understand that the stage is an integral part of helping to foster creativity and imagination while promoting self-confidence for all kids.

Oh come on! Theater is the heart of the city. We need to use it to learn to be expressive, not store mops and basins! Please don't take down the stage!

The Groveland stage is a place where students get to show what they have learned and helps to build the strong sense of community that Groveland Park Elementary is known for. That space should be used to enhance the learning not house brooms, mops and garbage!

There has to be a better option that will not negatively impact students! Does this property not have a huge boiler room that has served custodial and storage needs for nearly 100 years? Can that space be improved?

Surely there must be another creative way to create storage space in the school. Why must any outlet for the arts be the first on the chopping block? The stage is a unique part of Groveland and should not be destroyed.

What is a school without a stage? It's inconceivable to imagine Groveland without a stage; the heart of the building, just as much in importance as any classroom, lunchroom, offices, teachers' lounge, front desk, principals offices, or any other space in the building. The custodial needs may be important, but is this the best plan you can come up with? It seems like a rash decision that will be deeply regretted after it's done. Come up with a Plan B, please, to accommodate the custodial space needed. I'm sure the community will help you to achieve a goal of saving the stage and gaining the needed custodial space without sacrificing the soul of this school.

My daughter loves performing on that stage. I love watching her on that stage. I would be just about the dumbest solution to do for this problem.
