The Green Sea Turtle is a large, weighty sea turtle with a wide, smooth carapace, or shell. It inhabits tropical and subtropical coastal waters around the world and has been observed clambering onto land to sunbathe.
Unfortunately, Green Sea Turtles are listed as an endangered species.
Despite this, they are still killed for their meat and eggs.
Their numbers are also reduced by boat propeller accidents, fishnet-caused drowning, and the destruction of their nesting grounds by human encroachment.

i have been reading through all the stories people are posting about why they care about these turtles and it is honestly so moving. im working on getting this in front of some local conservation groups soon so stay tuned.

i saw one of these while snorkeling in hawaii once. they are beautiful creatures and we gotta protect the nesting grounds before they are all gone.
