We have encroached on the animals territory for cwnturies. It is unjust and unfair to expect a mother, of an species, not to react in a defensive fashion if she feels her young are being threatened! There are other options than putting an ENTIRE family down. Why are you not punishing the humans that crowded her? Move the family to an area further away from humans. I know they are territorial and will make their way back, however this give the neighborhood and the government time to put certain policies into place. The resident sakes for bear proof trash cans a year ago! Provide these and education for all tesidents, especially those new to the area. Mandate hefty fines for those that approach, crowd, or try to interact with the wildlife in any way. Stop punishing the animals for being animals and start holding humans responsible for their actions!

I have lived in Canada with wild animals, and we keep our distance from each other and everyone is happy. I think it is the reckless behaviour of the humans that should be stopped and not the lives of these bears who may pay the ultimate penalty.

please, please have some compassion. There is already too much cruelty in ou world without Dept of Fish and Game adding to the cruelty by taking the easy way out. Shame on you.

how can we teach future generations to preserve, protect, and honor our wildlife if we senselessly kill it because of ignorant behavior? This bear family needs to be saved. Maybe the media and gawkers need to accept some responsibility in this situation. Those media outlets should be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves!

if there already depending on people to feed them why can't we put them in the conservation center instead of killing them! So heart breaking.

1st manage the people: put an emergency curfew in place that all civilians must go inside & remain inside when bears are in sight. 2nd: live trap. 3rd: have local food garbage gathered daily to be taken to relocation site. *It's worth the investment: Black bears are extremely harmless when neither baited nor taunted nor tortured by humans. They fear us rightfully.

It is a sad day when a whole bear family is going to be killed because of the stupidity of humans. The news crews and tourists and peoe who live in. the area who caused this to happen should be ashamed of themselves. People need to realize that an animal will protect her children just as a human would. This is not right!!!
