I say just relocate them far away to where they can't return to government hill. I've heard arguments that because they're used to the garbage they wouldn't survive elsewhere, but at least give them a fighting chance to adapt rather than just kill them off.

Killing 5 bears is an atrocity. WE moved into their land. The fact that this mamma bear has managed to keep her 4 babies alive this long is fantastic! To slaughter them is disgusting and a blatant disregard to nature. This has become the common practice in Anchorage. Every time bears catch attention in Anchorage at this point Fish and Game just kills them and claims relocation is impossible. They don't really give a good reason for why relocation is impossible...we are just supposed to accept that it is. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. How very lazy of F&G. RELOCATE this amazing family to somewhere appropriate and not just 20 miles outside of town. We live in the largest and most wild state and you are trying to claim you can't come up with a place to put these guys? Good try. The humans being irresponsible with their trash disposal and baiting in this family for a closer look and fun pictures for Facebook are to blame here. NOT these 5 innocent bears doing exactly what they were meant to do. This makes me sick. If we have such a surplus on funds that we can even discuss paying to send alcoholics to out of state upscale rehab facilities, we can come up with the funds to save these innocent bears.
