Whereas I believe that these bears are irreversibly habituated to human garbage, the state and city must first take common sense action against the causes of this problem. Both entities should be issuing citations to people who don't properly store their garbage, who put their trash out before trash day and who leave out bird feeders. This problem was 100% preventable despite what the ADF&G employee (Saalfield) stated in the ADN article.

Killing those bears is deplorable and wrong. Please relocate or find a zoo to take them.

This is absolutely atrocious! To kill these bears is to kill a piece of Alaska and degrade the mission of the Alaska Fish and Game mission. Hold yourself to a higher standard and simply relocate the these bears. It's Alaska for God sakes! There's plenty of room for relocation!

PLEASE relocate these bears far away, not just over the hill! AK a big place and plenty of places to go! Our wildlife is not disposable!!.... follow through on fines and enforcement going forward to ensure people do not leave trash out available to bears. Hold offenders accountable.
