There are so many other ways to help these bears, please don't kill them......tranquilize them and put them back up in the mountains...there are plenty of them around.

Please get bear proof garbage disposals and stop killing bears for the what "ifs". Sure they can be dangerous, but this could be prevented. And is going to continue to happen until common sense measures are taken. They should be free to live wherever, we know what to do to keep them away. Killing this family wont keep other bears coming over the smell of trash. Very sad. :(

Require bear proof garbage cans in high bear areas, start fining waste management for not offering them and people for not accepting them or leaving garbage available for them to get into. The city of Anchirage can do better. One more thing the city could spend the surplus on instead of sending a handful of inebriates out of state for treatment. There's no excuse.
