I was in AK long enough to see the horrible impact the growth of Jber has had on the wildlife. I have seen many many people do dumb things like take selfies with bears. The problem lies with the humans not the bears. I understand that now they are scavengers but there are alternatives like wildlife refuges or zoos around the world that would be a better solution. People need to be accountable for their actions and maybe with that there is money to be made by ticketing those people for feeding the wildlife who leave their tash cans out the night before or maybe a change in the trash pick up route would be enough. It is not the animals' fault, why should they suffer for humans' mistakes when it used to be their home & we are taking it away from them with the growth of Anchorage.

The bears aren't so much of a problem as the the humans who continued feeding the problem. The resident's are the ones creating the problem's. Their failure to take any responsible action to curb the actions of the bears. If you were seen feeding wildlife, the fish & game or LE folks would cite you or give you a warning. We live in their backyard & need to be "Bear Aware" since we're in their backyard ! Maybe we should "relocate" the people who fail to be responsible. The bears being threaten to be put down by that moron from fish & game is showing a very narrow minded solution to a problem that can be resolved peacefully. Why is it when they are trying to catch a bear, that the F&G folks put everything in the trap except for the PB & J and the picnic basket in the trap ? Just what are they teaching the bears ? Some positive steps need to be taken before you do something stupid. The first actions need to be taken by the resident's with help from the F&G people and get a Bear Proof trash can also. Use common sense not stupidity to settle this issue. These cubs are fine animals when I saw them last fall & showed no hostilities when I saw them last fall grazing on some grass @ Elmendorf last year. There has to be a better outcome to this. If your going to put cross hairs on the sow and the quad, put your 1st set on that moron from F&G and see if he likes it anymore then the sow and her cubs would. Let common sense prevail !

It is our fault this situation is happening, therefore it should be our responsibility to fix the problem. Killing these bears is not the answer.

There is no need to interfere with their lives beyond relocating them. Killing them is going to far, finding them a new home away from all the neighborhoods and dumpsters is the right thing to do.
