This program gives kids the opportunity to stay active and persue their dreams in either football or cheer. It's a fun and enjoyable experienced for the kids and it gives them a head start in continuing football or cheer in the future. I would, and I'm sure a lot of other people would want to see this program continue, it would be a shame if it didn't.

My daughter cheered for FSH for 3 years. It was an amazing experience. It taught her how to be a team player, confidence, and to never give up on herself. She has created the greatest bonds/friendships with her fellow cheerleaders and coaches. Go FSH!!

The FSH Football Program is a wonderful organization. My son started when he was five, he is 14 now. From the coaches to the team moms.. It's tradition, it's family. Most importantly, this program is necessary!

please don't take this amazing program away from our family!! I am 33 years old and cheered for the Cougars when I was a kid and now my sons and daughter are Cougars!! This was so devastating- please, please BRING IT BACK!!!!

the FSH Cougsrs Football and Cheer programs were the best thing that happened to our family while stationed at FT Sam. It was our support system- for the adults and the kids- and gave my husband and I the opportunity to participate through coaching. It would be very sad to close such a terrific program/benefit to our military kids and their families.

Worse Idea i have ever heard of. Cutting the Football and Cheer Program would cut a direct link to the community of San Antonio. Not only that but it would force over 200 Family to play for other team and would lose about 13000$

The reason given for termination was this bullet on inspection was found non-satisfactory, "Youth below the age of 11 years are not permitted to participate in activities that result in the significant or frequent collisions involving the head or neck."
The FSH Cougars youth football program has already been taking the proper steps to eliminate those 'significant and frequent' collisions involving the head or neck for several years now. The FSH Cougars football program is recognized by USA Football (Football's National Governing Body) as a Heads Up Football Program. NAJIFF the football league to which the FSH Cougars belong is now a Heads Up Football league which means our competitors are receiving the same training and instruction as the Cougars. To become certified as a Heads Up Football program by USA Football there are strict regulations and guidelines that have to be followed which FSH Cougars have and continue to meet. There are 5 different levels of contact and the program follows the approved amount of time allotted for those levels of contact. The method of tackling taught in the Heads Up programs teaches a form of contact where head and neck injuries are minimized which has led to a 76% decrease in head and neck injuries over the last 4 years to members of organizations that are recognized as Heads Up programs. If FSH Cougars follow the Heads Up program endorsed by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and other leading organizations across medicine and sport, with the qualified personnel for making the game as safe as possible, why then is the program being taking away by people less qualified to track and monitor how the sport has improved the safety and well-being of our youth.
