if this building is listed how have the alterations been passed and by who? Backhanders?

To deface a historic building in this manner is disgracefull and toally unneccessary since there are many alternatives on other sites in and around the town which have fallen into obscene disrepair. This really must be halted before they do any more terrible damage to what is a wonderful building!

this is really very sad to do this to a beautiful old building , a disabled stair lift would be your answer instead of building an eyesore

This is outrageous and should be stopped. This a listed building. If anyone cares it also has the biggest single cut piece of granite in England on the top step. It's discussting

Truly disgusting what they are allowed to get away with. I was under the impression this was a listed/protected building! ...

This was a terrible thing to see when I was home visiting...so sad to see such a beautiful building distroyed in this way. Who ever signed this over should be ashamed!!

Surely it will be easier and more pleasing to the eye for the ramp (for those who need a ramp rather than stairs) to be at the side or back??

Many young people have been involved with The Royal British Legion Remembrance days, Christmas carols, foreign visitors on the steps of St. Johns Hall. Please ensure their happy memories remain for many more years to come. Changes to the main part of Penzance are needed but not to this historic building.

This is really not good. A local building of historical significance and nice architecture, is being de-icer by block work being used at the front, totally out of keeping with the rest of the building.
