Heritage should be preserved, not demolished because it's more convenient to do so.

I 've heard that this can be rebuilt as a wood bridge keeping with heritage aesthetics at a lower cost, longer lasting and less time to build then the proposed steel bridge replacement.

I live within a 5 min walk to the French Village Bridge in Covered Bridge Estates. We do not want this bridge replaced with a steel structure.

Historic bridges are disappearing at an alarming rate because of irresponsible drivers and vandals. We cannot afford to willingly dismantle the reaming ones. We must preserve these remaining treasures for our future generations. The life span of a covered bridge can exceed the life span of two or more concrete and steel bridges. If inspected and maintained they could serve the public for centuries.

That covered bridge is highly visible from the main highway and has a lot of potential as a tourist attraction. It is a part of the local heritage as well. Also, the whole reason the bridge needs repaired is due to human error and the idiot who rammed the piece of heavy equipment into the bridge, trying to drive through it. Ridiculous!

The bridges of New Brunswick are part of our heritage and can be preserved most economically with replacing the damage with new wood .
