We the
undersigned residents of Washington, D.C. request the executive staff of the
District of Columbia Public Library to provide the Friends of the Southeast
Library (FOSEL) with a room which is at least the size of the current FOSEL
room to maintain the FOSEL monthly book sales and donations to the library’s
events.
My childhood memories are tied to the stacks at Southeast Library and I refuse to watch our monthly book sales disappear. We are creeping toward the two hundred fifty signature mark and hitting that threshold will force the library executive staff to take our demand seriously.

Seeing this kind of momentum reminds me how much this library means to our neighborhood families. I spent so many afternoons browsing those shelves with my own kids and I am overwhelmed that so many of you feel the same way.

I spent hours of my childhood digging through these sale bins and finding treasures that shaped me. Please send this link to your neighbors right now so we can hit our goal and prove that these sales are vital to our community.

Just moved to the area and the book sale was the first thing I found. It is a great resource and people depend on it.

Coming here for years and always find something good. Really hope they find a way to keep the sales going in a good space. It would be a real shame to lose this.

In the past, I often come to the book sales, primarily religious & classical literature books. And Maybe a few children's book (before I retired from the classroom). I still visit the $1 book sale in the rear of the library or I'll just put a donation in the mailbox. Soooo thanks for including this request for adequate storage for the book sales of the future.
