They actually backed down so the flower lady is safe and that silly substation plan is totally scrapped. My head is spinning a bit because I really thought they would dig their heels in forever but turns out they listened even if it took way too long. Keep checking the …

Help save our Flower Lady!
We must stop an electrical substation being built in place of our little Victorian coal house now The Flower Lady!
Network Rail need a substation because they made mistakes in the refurbishment of the shops at the top end of Railton Road and our Flower Lady has to suffer!
We have made many suggestions of alternative locations which if the existing substation nextdoor to The Flower Lady is anything to go by are perfectly suitable but we are being met with opposition.
Help us impress upon Network Rail that this is just not good enough. That our Flower Lady is a much loved and essential local asset which depends on the location for much of its revenue and ease of community involvement!
Sign now to tell NR that they cannot disregard small local business and our community!

I honestly cannot believe the momentum we have built these past few days because people are finally starting to see that this little shop is the heart of the block. It feels like we are actually being taken seriously now and that is such a massive shift from when I started this whole thing in my kitchen. I am going to keep pushing until Network Rail realizes they cannot just steamroll our neighborhood for their own mistakes.

I checked the count just now and saw we are creeping up toward that first hundred mark which honestly feels huge when you think about how hard we are fighting against these giant suits who clearly have no idea what this little spot means to us. If you can grab your phone and send the link to a few people before I head down there to check on the shop then maybe we can actually hit that target today and show them that folks around here are genuinely watching.

I want to see the flower shop when I come out of the station - it makes an otherwise uninspiring and clinical area feel like a neighbourHood - warm, friendly and beautiful. A new venue with higher rent would make it too expensivefor me to buy flowers

Communities are not just about shops, they are about people. Elaine is at the heart of Herne Hill life. Sub Stations can go in many places, not least inside the station yard on the other side of the station entrance. A little bit of imagination woudl really help here.

In my childhood this building was known as a coal order office. It should be preserved as a historic building, as well as because it is the current base of an extremely successful and very popular business, with a much loved owner.

The Flower Lady is a really important part of our community. She is central to many events and initiatives around Herne Hill. Please look at alternative sites for the substation. This is a problem of Network Rail’s making, don’t punish the community for it.

Elaine is entrenched I Herne Hill folklore. She loves and serves the community and has done so for a long time. She helps out in community gatherings e.g. Street Parties and helps care for of the elderly in the community. Elaine must stay!!!

Keep the shop open, the railway has plenty of unused waste land in the near vicinity. Ridiculous to close local flower shop and lose jobs and services when there are plenty of clear alternatives being ignored presumably on the grounds of cost.

Elaine has made Herne Hill station beautiful, green, friendly and so full of live even on dull, grey days. The flower shop and the flower lady are a big part of this community and an essential part of the independent business we should be helping and keeping
