As the Boys Basketball Coach, A.S.B. Leadership Advisor, Social Studies Instructor, and proud alumnist of UNI High School, I can't express more STRONGLY the importance of MAINTAINING the UCLA Afterschool Program on the campus of University High School Charter now, and for years to come. Now is NOT the time to cut programs - but to add enrichment programs, and enhance current programs like the UCLA Afterschool Program.

My daughter went to A World Fit For Kids daily and it really helped her succeed in middle school and Eagle Rock.

The UCLA program is so vital to what we do at UNI. I cannot stress enough how important it is for the students we serve. It is literally a home away from home. The students at UNI see the program as an extension of the school day. The programs they offer as well as the tutoring, is an indespensible part of what we do, and why we are successful. Teachers at UNI are ready to fight to keep this wonderful program.

These are essential services. This is not the time to rush in and take from these programs.

This program is integral at our school. It serves over 180 students a day! It would be stifling to get rid of the programs that UCLA offers on our campus, especially students of color who not only need the academic support, but also the emotional and social support. We must continue and forge onward!

The kids need these programs. They aren’t a luxury, but a necessity.

As a teacher who visits these programs often, the after-school program benefits the most needy students and I pray UCLA can find a way to save these programs for the future of our youth.

Always, but particularly at this time in our students' lives this is an ESSENTIAL program supporting them academically, emotionally and physically.
This is NOT the time to abandon them
