As a once long-time, and now recently returned, Capitol Hill resident, I was both saddend and dismayed that this historic and landmark anchor of the Seattle arts scene would disappear this year. Inclusion of a theater and stage space for public events, cinema screenings, live performances, and civic events would be a much welcome departure from the trend of elimination of the institutions that make Capitol Hill such a jewel of a neighborhood.

Please keep the theater intact. If they get removed it's character we will never get back. Shapiro you do awesome work, please work the theater into your plans. At least keep on of the two.

The Harvard Exit Theater is a vital historical architectural and independent cinematic venue on Capitol Hill. It's charming old brick mansion atmosphere (fireplace, piano, warmly lit, carpeted living room lobby, wooden stairs, beautiful windows, vintage French movie posters, etc) offers a degree of quaintness not found anywhere else in Seattle. That very unique space has been conducive to SIFF, LGBT film festivals, lectures, readings, plays, fundraisers, and a host of cultural activities that have brought the Capitol Hill Community together in celebration of the cultural pluralism that unites the very essence of our neighborhood. There is no better respite from the long dark winters, a cold rainy night, or a hot summers day than The Harvard Exit. I would strongly urge preserving this one-of-a-kind space at all costs. I would think that ( in fact) there would be a great deal of financial incentive and profit to be made by exploiting the fundamental creative spirit and resources that galvanize this community in this unique space that is The Harvard Exit.

The Harvard Exit is my favorite theatre. I routinely drive over from the Eastside (Woodinville) to see movies at this wonderful theatre. This building needs to be preserved for the art film community. I absolutely love the place. Please save it!
