we choose this Historic park to get married with the assumption that it "will always be there and protected" - I never would have imagined the possibility of it being sold.

Plenty of legacies can be lost to "progress" but what about upholding historical monuments for posterity's sake as well as carrying on traditions. Keep the park for the people.
