The subcommittee action are extremely ill informed. They need to settle the suit with Newmont and preserve what is one of the jewels of Nevada County.

Keep the Park, not every square inch of California needs to be sold off to developers. Send off to buy infill properties and develop them instead.

Sites like the Empire Mine are part of our shared history, and deserve protection and management by an entity directly responsible to the people - ie, the state.

I was former ranger at Empire Mine. Working afterward as the Chief of the Office of Revenue Generation I polled Californians and determined that the taxpayer wants State Parks to manage park lands. So what you are proposing is not want your constituents want and the data is up there in Sacto. This resource is far too significant to California. Having spent ten years in the Resources Building I know staffing their is bloated. The Resources Building serves no visitors, place staffing where it matters. This idea is completely absurd.

I would be sad to lose such an important symbol of our state's history. Selling the property for short-term gain would be short-sighted in the extreme.

I got married at the mine in 1971 before it was a State Park. This gem belongs to the people of California as tribute to our heritage!! Do not sell it.
