The NHS confirmed they are dropping the plan to relocate the women from Pentland ward. It has been a long and draining fight but staying firm kept these ladies in their home. I am exhausted by this process yet relieved we forced them to change course.

This petition has been set up to help save the elderly ladies from the Pentland ward at the Royal Edinbugh Hospital.

The ward us the ONLY all lady ward for ladies with dementia. The HNS are looking to relocate these ladies, in community facilities across Edinburgh. Including Ferryfield House and Findlay House.

The NHS says it's part of a major redevelopment work at the Morningside facility. However families of the elderly ladies feel that It’s being presented as a care decision when in fact it is about closing beds.

The new places they have suggested are just not the environment we would want our mothers to be in. They are simply farming them out.”

It is understood that the site will be used to provide care for patients from Myreside ward, a neighbouring unit for men with early onset dementia.

We hit one hundred signatures today. It is exhausting to keep pushing against this decision but knowing I am not alone makes the weight a little easier to carry.

The days have been long and honestly exhausting while we fight to keep these women in the only home they know. We are getting very near to our first hundred signatures and I need you to push this link to anyone else who understands why this relocation is wrong.

an absolute disgrace, i work in a care of the elderly ward and continuity of care and environment are essential in the well being of my patients. However, in the last 10 months our patients also have had 2 moves due to hospital/ward closures. Cmon NHS up your game, its a disgrace, makes you fear the prospect of growing old and infirm!

So easy to make decisions based on cost (which this unfoubtedly is) but would those in power take the same decision if their family was being affected....I THINK NOT

Having had a mum with Alzheimer's I know that moving the elderly ladies will be very unsettling for them. Also, to mix the ladies with the opposite sex is not a good idea as sometimes, with Alzheimer's, inhibitions disappear and this could be a rescipe for disaster.

I work in a seniors facility and many of them have Dementia. Any changes would have detrimental effect on these patients. They need stability and familiar. I ask that you keep this ward as is in the best interest of these ladies.

I have a family member in this ward closing it down would cause her mJor distress and confusion and no doubt set her back from all the great progress she has been making.

It's a disgrace that these ladies are being moved when they are settled in and are with other ladies with the same problem. They should all be kept together as they will have built up a bond with one another .

Please don't close the ward. There should be more single sex wards for dementia patients!
