As a regular at this market I know what a great community resource it is for the area as well as being a quirky tourist attraction.

People need community space and not just everything for purely commercial gain for the few. During the recession the needs of the many were ignored and forgotten. It's looks like in the recovery nothing has changed.

The Dublin Flea Market is a unique gem that Dublin 8 is extremely lucky to have. It's a wonderful event that does so much for the local community. It brings vitality, inspiration, creativity and a buzz of community spirit to the neighbourhood. This is the kind of activity that we need more of in the city, and especially outdoors in our public spaces. But without the indoor space to operate in all weather, markets like these are unsustainable. Please ensure that sufficient space is planned and provided to the markets of Newmarket Square so that they can continue to operate their wonderful vibrant community events in the future.

I'd like to voice my concerns over the potential loss of the market spaces and other businesses in Newmarket Sq. They form the heart of the vibrant community here and it would do irreprable harm to develop without a plan to retain them.

Don't strip the inner city of this market, which adds to the colour and contributes to Dublin being living city :(
