Important to keep these community facilities going. Dublin 8 needs them (and housing) not hotels and student apartments.

Dublin Flee market is a great culture hub and it would mean a huge loss for Dublin. It's a great chance for local merchants to sell their products, for people who live in Dublin to find unique things and a great social hub as well. Nothing that might be built there could equal that.

Please protect this cultural and community-centred space. The Dublin Flea Market is a treasured market not only to those who live nearby but to all of us who enjoy sharing cultural experiences. We can't let greedy developers squash what little community-centred initiatives we have left in this city.

Let us keep our community alive with markets like these - they are a social interface, not just commercial, and an integral part of the fabric that makes this area special!

Newmarket Square hosts a range of community based markets and activities, unique in Dublin. Why destroy this environment with developments that remove both the character and sense of community in the area?

The Dublin Food Co-op was a crucial community for me when I moved from Canada to Dublin, and then moved with the co-op to Dublin 8 (I lived on Hanbury Lane, then Harty Place for three years).

So much events and markets being closed down all over it would be a shame to see the flea market go it is a great family day out. Or even as a couple loads of things to look at and such a lovely warming atmosphere. Please please let it stay.

The food Co-op, Green Door and Flea markets are the essence of the community in Dublin 8, they cannot be replaced by hotel and offices.

It would be an awful shame to loose this place and I think anyone should sign if they can.

Maintaining a sense of community needs to be a priority during any urban development. This is not achieved by reducing a community's visibility and footprint. The markets in this square provide a focal point for the entire south inner city away from the commercial centre and broaden the sense of space in the city centre. Tokenism on the part of developers will inevitably render the area soul less and result in dead space in short order, of little benefit to the community or to any other businesses in the area which require footfall to survive.
Important to keep these community facilities going. Dublin 8 needs them (and housing) not hotels and student apartments.
