I have been in contact with local stakeholders to discuss the future of the Dominican Church. The stories you have shared in the comments regarding the history of this site underline how vital it remains to our community.

The momentum behind this effort has grown beyond my initial expectations. It is encouraging to see so many people recognize the historical and community value of the Dominican Church.

My family have been using this church for over 65 years.Even though I'm now based in North Yorkshire, when I'm back in town ,I always visit the church and say a prayer at the Shrine to St Martin de Porres. It must not close.

There is a number of proposal to develop this area of the town for residential and commercial units with the new Court house nearing completion and high rises offices proposed by the OPW all this is located adjacent to the Church.
In a few short years this area will host a vibrant community seeking sanctuary.
