My daughter has graduated from the Somers school system, but during the time she attended Dr. Hardy was always the person we turned to to get the difficult tasks done. She was there to help us solve problems that no one else could. She was instrumental in helping my daughter to get into the University of Pennsylvania which is a great fit for her. I wish there were more people in the school system that have the passion that she has for her job.

Dr. Hardy came into the district when my daughter was a senior, and she was Jen's counselor. What a wonderful experience, so much different than the lack luster experience I had with my oldest, two years earlier. Dr. Hardy was always on top of everything, and very thorough.
Cutting her position would save money but at what cost?

Both my children graduated from SHS class 2012 & 2015 under the guidance of Dr Hardy and her guidance is priceless. She offered assistance & support when her team of counselors where unable to address questions, or out on maternity leave, out sick.or during school breaks. Dr Hardy is there when you need her with a level of expertise that is needed to guide a Department of young professional. A quote from my child " I went to her, because she knew the answers and could help me." This is a vital position within the school district, how can we possible achieve our goals in guiding students in this last and final stage with out someone at the helm with the knowledge and expertise as someone like Dr Hardy.

Dr. Hardy, in her position as Director of Guidance, drove my daughter's smooth transition from an IB school in the Netherlands to Somers. Her insights, core competencies and passion for education and student self-actualization are vital to Somers High. We implore the school board to maintain Dr. Hardy in her position.

Dr. Hardy is the one person who actually gets done what needs to get done. She is never standing around talking to her friends or out getting lunch, she always is in her office with her door opened to you.

Please, for the love of God, tell me why they hold a vote on the school budget every year? If Blanche can't budget his position properly, then either he is the poor money manager who must go, or we have voted on a budget under the wrong pretext. A Director of Guidance helps kids get into school and keeps Somers Schools on the right path.

I graduated from Somers in 2014 and would not have been able to choose the college I wanted to go to without Dr. Hardy. She (and all of the guidance counselors) were such a huge influence and help in regards to the entire college process and made everything just a little bit easier when it seemed too overwhelming. She is yet another member of the Somers faculty that cares genuinely about the students; Somers wouldn't be the same without her!

Dr. Hardy is amazing. Although she wasn't my assigned counselor, I went to her for everything. It was because of her that I attended Somers High School. Letting her go would be a horrible; she plays a huge part as to why SHS is a very good school. She cares about all students and parents genuinely, and no matter what, she has our best interests at heart. She is probably the best counselor at the high school.

I have a 10th grader at SHS and a 3rd grader at SIS and feel the cutting of the DOG would be detrimental to the all students presently at SHS and all future SHS students. Please do not eliminate this position.
