I am a licensed NY State fishing guide and avid angler who enjoys fishing the upper Delaware River Systems. I do some guiding on the West branch but am mainly concerned for the health and wellbeing of the trout in these river systems. If we do not release some water to cool down the river systems then we may indeed see the demise of the Wild Rainbow Trout that exist there and even the Brown Trout will have a hard time surviving these water temperatures and conditions.
Please release some of the water from the full reservoirs to help sustain the good health of these fantastic fisheries.

Sufficient coldwater releases from ALL three reservoirs are needed now. The Neversink, East Branch and West Branch are all being negatively impacted by reduced flows while NYC is filling their reservoirs.

Upstate NY and PA are always thinking "casinos, casinos, casinos" when cold water releases (and the economic boon of fly-fishers) get short shrift. Time to wise up and open the gates.

My friends and I have been fishing this river since we were kids. We now all live in different parts of the country and still meet up in Hancock for our traditional 3 days of fishing every year. It's one of the very few pristine fisheries in the northeast. It's a shame it's not currently being managed properly. We're all supposed to be meeting up there at the end of the month. I sure hope this won't still be an issue then, or we may have to reconsider the location for future outings. Think about that. This is just our group of 4-5 guys. Multiply that by the hordes of people who travel there yearly, and you can begin to see how badly this can affect your local economy.
