The deck attracts customers to WIA and surrounding stores without having any negative impact. It should be allowed to stay

WIA store and the deck imparticular is the reason I drive all the way into Newcastle!
Pulling it down would have a negative impact on Darby st.

I don’t see why the council would feel they need to remove this as it is apart of this business, and is clearly used by the customers daily. It provides more seating for the business and a lot of customers prefer to sit outside and if they council removed it then there would be less buisness for this cafe due to limited seating areas

NCC should be supporting local businesses and their hard working owners/staff. Small business like this one are what makes Newcastle the vibrant place it is! If you want people to come to and return to Darby Street then give businesses the support to provide unique experiences like this deck and stand out from the big complexes offered at Kotara and Charlestown.

For crying out loud. “Let’s screw up two young enterprising local lads who have built a thriving business that is surviving DESPITE the constant road works & traffic disruptions throttling the CBD with businesses closing left right & centre”. It’s one parking space. How many parking spaces has your “infrastructure improvements” taken away from the city?!

NCC this is an absolute joke! It is one car space in an area where you guys are promoting and encouraging the use of public transport. As one can assume that the parking space where the deck is placed is included in wia stores lease, it would be considered the exact same thing as other shop owners putting up bolads to prevent people from parking in they allocated parking sports.
