My family and I enjoy the Curtain Theatre productions every summer. We regard them as an integral part of Mill Valley's cultural life and feel fortunate to have such professional productions offered for free in a town as small as ours. These performances alone have also cultivated a love of theater and Shakespeare in our daughter, now age 10!

The Curtain Theater brings top quality performances of the Shakespeare Classics with original music that are so acessable to all. We NEED MORE experiences like this in our town. Mill Valley needs to support these talented artists that are giving their best for us!!!

Curtain Theatre's summertime performances in Old Mill Park are a family tradition over the past decade. We church in Mill Valley but live in San Rafael. We pick a Sunday each performance season to do both...spiritual benefits in both cases - church up the street, and performance in the cathedral of the Redwood Grove in the Park.

What the Curtain Theatre does in Old Mill Park is fabulous and should not under any circumstances be curtailed or cut back in any way. To have these wonderful free performances of Shakespeare's plays is a local treasure, and the neighbors should support it in every way possible, not complain about some noise now and then.

As a staff member of the Mountain Play for 20 years I love to experience Shakespeare at Old Mill Park. When I lived in NYC I frequented the Delacorte Theater started by Joe Papp, who started Shakespeare in Central Park, and it still goes on to this day to the delight of NY theatergoers. The Curtain Theater is an essential part of Mill Valley theater. Why someone or someone's would want to cease its existence is beyond me. The families love it, the children enjoy the music and the productions. It is essential that the Curtain Theater continue doing what it does, bringing much needed free entertainment to Mill Valley. One of my greatest summertime pleasures is to go with my daughter Nina and friends to see the new performance of the Curtain Theater. It is such a lovely experience and the people putting it on are super friendly. Every year the performance is creating awe, wonder, laughter and cheers in this enchanted amphitheater in Old Mill Park. It would be a total shame if this great tradition couldn't continue.

The magic and accessibility of these free Shakespeare performances nestled in the redwoods should far outweigh any minor disturbance to a few neighbors.

Please save the theater!!! Some of my and my children’s early memories are of watching rehearsals peaking around the redwoods!

These performances are a very special gift. All that attend a performance or happen to view a rehearsal are experiencing Shakespeare and live art. These events are free vs the art fairs that exclude people with limited income.
